A well-groomed slope resonates with you

You know it’s going to be a good day out on the slopes when you see the well-groomed slopes from the cable car. That’s the greatest satisfaction for a snowcat driver.

There are eleven local drivers in Paganella. They drive their snowcat to the top of the slope in the evening and start preparing it. Each driver is assigned a slope – if they finish before everyone else, they go and help their colleagues on the longer slopes.

The snowcat’s control panel indicates the slope’s incline and the snow width at any point on the slope. The drivers take the excess snow and bring it where it’s needed.

Gigi is the most senior in the group – he started working on 31 December 1982. He’s seen how the Paganella, the machines, and the snow have changed. One thing which hasn’t changed is his passion, one shared across different generations: indeed, the children who used to fall while skiing on the slopes have become his colleagues.

You can meet them if you want to find out more about their job. As soon as the lift facilities close and the skiers desert the slopes, join one of the Paganella’s snowcat drivers and spend an evening with them.
